FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
Preparation, scope, access, and timing questions for move-related cleanouts.
Should the home be empty before the cleanout?
No. The important part is a clear decision about what stays and what goes. Keep personal documents and moving essentials in a separate, unmistakable area.
Can a cleanout happen before the movers arrive?
Yes. A pre-move cleanout can reduce the amount you pack and transport. Share the move date so the removal plan leaves enough time for final packing.
What should I include in my email?
Send the property type, city, number of rooms, major furniture pieces, stairs or elevator details, parking distance, and the date you want the space ready.
Do I need to reserve the elevator?
Ask your property manager. Some buildings require a reservation or limit move-related use to set hours.
Can furniture be removed from upstairs?
Describe the stairs, landings, and item dimensions in your email. The crew needs that information to plan equipment and labor.
Do you clean the apartment after hauling?
The verified cleanout scope includes sweeping the worked area. Detailed housekeeping, carpet cleaning, and repairs are separate services unless confirmed in advance.
Can you clear more than one room?
Yes. Describe every space you want included so the estimate reflects the full job rather than one visible pile.
Should I bag everything?
Loose small items are easier to handle when boxed or bagged, but do not pack paint, chemicals, batteries, or sharp objects into ordinary removal bags.
What if I am still deciding what to keep?
Finish the uncertain items before the appointment or isolate them in one clearly marked area. That prevents accidental removal and keeps loading moving.
Can you decide whether tenant belongings are abandoned?
No. That is a legal and management decision. California Courts explains notice requirements in some situations; get legal advice when the facts are uncertain.
Can the work happen without the tenant present?
The authorized property contact must confirm access and removal scope. The crew does not determine possession rights.
Do you remove fixtures or perform repairs?
Not as part of a standard move-out cleanout. Identify any attached items or repair work separately before scheduling.
